Summer Athletic Gear You Can Buy For $ (As Opposed To $$$)

If you think you can’t get your summer athletic gear on a budget, you’re wrong.

I just bought three shirts and two bottoms for $40 at Walmart. Actually, it should’ve been less then $40 because the And1 basketball shorts that rang up for $12.66 were on sale for about $10, but I didn’t catch it at the self check-out or I would’ve complained (yeah, yeah, don’t act like you wouldn’t do the same thing).

So, technically, less than $40 for six new top and bottom combos. That’s awesome and freaking unheard of, if you ask me.

For right around $40 ($40.50 to be exact), I got all this stuff: a pair of And1 basketball shorts for $12.66, a Russell Athletic black mesh cut-off tee for $9.66, a no-name grey tank with the pocket on the front for $6.44, a pair of green not-too-tight joggers for $9.96, and a clearance St. Patty’s Day t-shirt that says, “Kiss Me I’m (Pretending To Be) Irish” for $2.00!

The beauty of Walmart is that everything is so damn cheap; and cheap isn’t necessarily synonymous with ‘bad’ or ‘low quality.’

The quality of each item was ‘good’ to ‘very good’ and these clothes make me look pretty damn good, I think (although my wife despises the basketball shorts for some odd reason).

The only struggles I had while out shopping was finding the right size and the lack of a fitting room (so I just tried the stuff on over my clothes).

When I was there, it looked like the store was almost picked bare (maybe due to COVID-19) and the only things left were mainly smalls and XXLs, so I’m glad I was able to find enough larges (L).

If you’re willing to pick through Walmart’s men’s section with a fine-toothed comb, like I did, you’ll be surprised what you find.

Stretch that money,

P.S. Where do you get your athletic gear? Is my wife overreacting to the basketball shorts? Call in the show and leave a voicemail at 917-267-8590.
